Save time. Enhance readability. Build a reader-base.
Self editing is the path to the dark side. Self editing leads to self delusion, self delusion leads to missed mistakes, missed mistakes lead to bad reviews. Bad reviews are the tools of the dark side.

Give your authors the gift of choice and expertise so that they can thrive…
Thank you for visiting The EditingQueen.

Why do authors, book coaches and publishers use my services?
- QUALITY. Well-edited manuscripts are easy to read and understand, and they are not flagged on Amazon and other platforms.
- PERSONAL TOUCH. Each author receives my personal attention throughout the process.
- SAVINGS. By outsourcing this crucial aspect of the publishing process, coaches and publishers save time and money. They don’t need to employ and pay salaries to permanently employed in-house editors, even during slow months. The author picks up the tab for editing or proofreading.
- AFFORDABILITY. Working with an editor in South Africa is much more affordable than one in America, Australia, the UK and other countries due to the favorable exchange rate.
- QUALITY. Having worked with authors from USA, UK, New Zealand, Holland, Singapore, Finland and numerous other countries, I am well versed in the different rules applicable to the English language and colloquialisms.
- RESPONSIVENESS. I am proud to say that in my years in business, I have never missed a deadline. This is partly attributable to my commitment to providing the best possible service and my high level of work ethic.
In addition to my thriving portfolio on Upwork, I work privately with authors who have been referred to me, as well as book coaches and digital publishers who refer a steady stream of clients to me.
My background in digital copywriting and psychology gives me a unique advantage in communicating with the audience. Prior to switching my focus towards editing exclusively, I maintained Hubspot Inbound Marketing certification.

The Editing Process
Do you have clients who would like to have their books edited? You can’t go wrong by referring them to The EditingQueen.
- Encourage Editing
Mainstream publishing houses put each manuscript through 4-6 edits, and if you read much, you will know that those books often still include poor sentence structure and typos. You’d be doing your clients a disservice by not recommending that their manuscripts undergo editing.
- Refer Them to EditingQueen
I accept quote requests via email or via our website. I request that authors submit a few pages (and the total word count) or the entire manuscript for an accurate assessment, quote and editing sample.
- Wait for the Assessment
When we receive a quote request, I will perform a sample edit so that the author can see the ways in which I will improve their manuscript. They will receive sample edits applied to their manuscript in Track Changes.
For more samples, click here.
- Review the Quote
They will receive a quote based on 4 packages (different levels of editing) to suit their needs and budget. Packages are based on level of editing, word-count, and special requests. Pricing start from as little as 0.012c/w. I provide free, no-obligation quotes along with a sample and writing assessment to help authors decide whether I’m the perfect editor for their manuscript.
Packages include the following:
- Read the Review and Terms & Conditions
The assessment will include a review portion, which explains specific issues that need to be addressed in the manuscript. The author should base their choice of editing package on those recommendations and the Terms & Conditions of my service.
- Book a Spot
Once the author has chosen an editing package, s/he should email me to book a spot. The quote will typically include an estimated start date and timeline for completion. This timeline should be considered when deciding on a launch date.
Upon request, we will submit an invoice and make a provisional booking. The booking will be finalized upon receipt of payment.
- Submit Final Manuscript
Once payment has been received, the author must submit a final copy of the manuscript prior to the confirmed start date. Please note that delays on the author’s side will cause delays on our side. Since quotes are based on word count (up to X-amount of words), we will submit an additional invoice if the quoted amount is exceeded by 1,000 or more words.
- Await Feedback
Depending on the duration of the edit, the author will receive approximately weekly updates as to the progress of the edit. Duration depends on the level of editing required and the word count, as well as my schedule at the time of the order. On average, estimated time frames are:
~ 7-10 days for a basic edit of 10,000 words
~ 2-3 weeks for a proofread of 30,000 words
~ 4-6 weeks for a comprehensive edit of 50, 000 words
- Take Delivery
On completion, the author will receive two documents via email:
The EDIT document, which contains Track Changes of all the corrections, edits and suggestions.
The NO MARKUPS document, which is a cleaned-up version of the edited document. Unless you are highly experienced at using Track Changes, please apply final changes to the NO MARKUPS copy.
- Complete a Final Review
At this point, the author has the opportunity to make any last-minute changes based on the edits and comments, as well as any other amendments s/he wishes to apply.
After final author revision and read-through, it may be returned to EditingQueen for a final check before it is submitted for publishing.
Thanks for taking such great care of the students that I send your way, I really appreciate it 🙂
